When the historic building in Glen Rose that housed the Warm Country Heart Theatre recently burned, some people thought the magic of this excellent group of Branson style performers would be lost. Like the instruments, equipment and furnishings, the dreams of a theater where Western Swing echoed the tunes of great musicians like Floyd Cramer and Bob Wills went up in smoke. But like the classic hit song by Floyd Cramer, Warm Country Heart is "On the Rebound". We can't thank people enough for their help," Jack Greubel, drummer for WCH said. Jack played the drums for 15 years in Nashville with the Masters Festival of Music, (The Masters Three) which included Floyd Cramer, Chet Atkins and Boots Randolph. It's been said at times that Jack plays the drums so fast, the sticks could catch on fire. Finding that his beloved drum set burned with the building was hard to take, even for a positive thinker like Jack. "But it's okay," Jack said with that twinkle in his eyes that appears when he talks about performing. "We opened in Granbury on the 12th of August at 7:30pm with a Saturday evening performance and will be adding more shows as the year continues."
Bob Goldsboro and Jack GruebelJohn Nash plays lead guitar and adds vocals to these masters of western swing, while Shea Buchanan and Michelle Winters add the lace and glitz with their vocals to please the contemporary music crowd. John's beautiful wife, Alice, is also featured on bass guitar.
Blake Barnes of Dallas sings all your favorite country classics. Jerry Van Kirk, one of the finest fiddle players you'll hear, will make you tap your feet to the classic country sound.
The new theater on Highway 51, nine tenths of a mile north of the square, has excellent parking for large groups with a wrap around porch just right for visiting before and after the show. The acoustics are great, the refreshment bar is stocked and the lone star on the front of the building is hung high. This group of musicians are truly on the rebound and their fans will all be blessed.
John Nash is much like the other members ... a star in his own right. He was schooled in the University of North Texas Lab Band scene, performing with the vaunted One O'Clock Band in 1971.
Jack had the opportunity to record with some of the greats. One of his proudest accomplishments was playing at Carnegie Hall and playing with Arthur Feedler with the Boston Pops, doing an album with Chet Akins in Boston in 1967. For that concert they recorded some of Chet's music. The biggest hit Jack sat in on was Roy Orbison's 'Dream Baby'.
A more modern Jack GruebelIn Nashville Jack played sideman, and played behind the piano player and the singer. He played for about ten years at the Grand Ole Opry. June Carter, Eddie Arnold, Jim Reeves, Minnie Pearl, Grandpa Jones, Jack played with all of them.
"I'm honored to be on Dolly Parton's biography, Loretta Lynn's biography, Patsy Cline's," Jack said. The Opry in those days played at a place called Ryman's auditorium, downtown Nashville.
"It was the greatest place in the world. Hank Williams, all of them were in that building. Sometimes you might have 15 or 20 of the biggest stars of country music there at the same time. But you didn't think one iota about it."
